Berit and Bernie raced the Heartbreak Half Marathon in the New Forest on 28th January.
Carl has organised a CPT social run starting at 08.00 on Saturday 10th February from the golf driving range car park in Featherbed Lane (just past Addington Court Golf club entrance on the opposite side). Everyone is welcome and all standards should find the course manageable and rewarding. It is an off road course and some dirty old trainers with grip are recommended. Studs would be suitable. The longest route is about 19km/11.5m and the shortest 14km/8.5m (taking all three shortcuts of 0.5,1.0,1.5m respectively). A light breakfast is adviseable. The whole event will take approximately two hours. Hope to see you there!
Tri247.com has just been launched to replace The Triathletes Homepage. If there's something going on in the world of triathlon (duathlon, aquathlon and pretty much anything else related ...) you'll find it on the new Tri247.com website.
Photographs are now available from the Tadworth 10 on 9th January 2007.
Belated photos from Southwater are also now available.
CPT came 8th in the 2006 London league, winning £300. Details of the 2007 League are below. Let's see if we can come higher up the table this year! Ful-on Tri came top and won £1000.
Entries are now open for the East Grinstead Triathlon on 13th May. This is the Club Sprint Championship race so get your entries in early to avoid disappointment and don't forget that you need to be wearing Club kit to qualify.
Photographs are now available from the Christmas party on 2nd December 2006. Hopefully I'll get the Southwater, Holly Run and Tadworth photos posted soon too.
This year's handbook was recently circulated to all British Triathlon members. Did you spot a familiar face on page 82?
Where's your Club kit Fintan?!
As previously reported, John Petrides, our Chairman, was voted London Volunteer of the Year. John was presented with his award by Jasmine Flatters at the Regional Dinner on 26 January. He was given a write up in the December 2006 issue of Tri News, which I have been given permission to reproduce here for anyone who missed it.
Following the success of our first 09.30 ride last Sunday (nine riders). We will add this as a regular fixture on the training calendar, at least on a trial basis. The fast group will meet at 08.30 for a 3+ hour ride, averaging 16-18mph. The second group will meet at 09.30 for a 1.5-2 hour ride, averaging 13-15mph. This may take a while to establish so please be prepared to cycle out on your own if there's no-one else there!! But we have a feeling this arrangement could be popular and will encourage more members out for the Sunday rides.
We are trying to establish maps of all our regular cycle routes. I have just added one for the Downe route that we did on the 09.30 ride last Sunday. It has a couple of short-cuts and alternatives so this can be between 1.30 and 2 hours long. If you have any other routes/suggestions, please let me know.
2007 sees the return of the London Region Triathlon League. Our race has again been selected as one of the series events. As a club, we would like to support the series and encourage members to take part in these races. We need five members (including one female and one vet, the vet can be male or female) in each race to score points.
Let's see if we can get a full team in each event this year and finish higher up the rankings than in 2006!
The 2007 races in the league series are:
01 Apr: Dragonslayer Duathlon
09 Apr: Thames Turbo Sprint Triathlon
13 May: Morden 6 by 6 Aquathlon
27 May: Crystal Palace Sprint Triathlon
15 Jul: Hillingdon Sprint Triathlon
18 Aug: Clash of the Tritons Aquathlon
When entering events, especially those in the London league, please make sure you enter as Crystal Palace Triathletes, otherwise your results won't count towards team prizes. Please also wear club kit wherever possible.
For more information visit the London region website.
The first race in the 2007 series, the Dragonslayer Duathlon has moved to a new location, Stubbers Outdoor Activity Centre, Upminster, Essex.
Unfortunately two of the dates clash with Club Championship events (13 May - East Grinstead Sprint and 15 July - White Oak Novice), but we might still be able to field a team.
We had a really good turn-out for the Tadworth 10 on Sunday 7th January, with some new faces joining the regulars for this tough run across Epsom Downs. Many thanks to the supporters, Nigel, Suse, Cathy, Mitch and Charlie, for their support and encouragement.
Carl Ferri also ran the Regents Park 10k with a PB of 37.12.
Carl Ferri ran the Crystal Palace 5k on Tuesday 2nd January and came in second with a time of 17:54. Results for other CPT members are now available.
There are a few popular races coming up that you might want to consider entering and the Bookham 10k that we've never tried before!
Dates for all Club Championship races have now been confirmed and entries are open for some. Put the dates in your calendar now and I'll let you know as soon as entries are open.
Welcome to the new style Club website. I hope you like the new look and layout. Please let me know what you think. I'm sure you'll find a few broken links, which are inevitable when moving a site of this scale, especially as the archive pages are in the old format. Email the webmaster with comments or broken links.
