2018 News - February

Weekend results 24-25 February

On Saturday Chris Hall raced the epic Trans Gran Canaria Ultra-marathon over in the Gran Canaria. Imagine running two marathons back to back, straight up a volcano. Below are some pretty epic pictures from the race.

Sunday saw Daniel Pinn and Matt Lawley race in the Brighton half marathon, both resulting in excellent times.

And finally also on Sunday Andrew Kew raced in a bittery cold Headcorn half marathon, with an equally excellent time.

Weekend results 18 February

Jeremy & Alison Purnell raced the Anglian Water Duathlon on Sunday, doubling as 2018 ITU/2019 ETU Duathlon qualifiers, both with strong results.

Hans and Wim Geberbauer finished the Hampton Court Half Marathon on Sunday with some great commentary from Hans:

"As we've done for a few years now, Wim and I headed to Surbiton for the Hampton Court Half. After a strong performance at the Tadworth 10, I thought I'd try to shave off 2 mins for a 1h35min finish. In the best conditions yet for this race, I tried to settle my pace after the congestion of the first two km. But I kept "banking" minutes with each km, I was waiting for the inevitable slow down in the last third. Instead, I was surprised by the 8 mile marker when I wasn't sure I had reached half way yet while feeling strong and fresh. I kept the pace high, even into the customary (although today light) headwind for the last three miles, and was able to put in a little more for the last km to shave off a full five minutes from last year. I am not sure how this return of speed has come about but am absolutely delighted. I may have to have another go at breaking 1h30min (last achieved in 2011).

Wim, by contrast, merely set out to prove that he can come in comfortably within 2 hours without any training whatsoever, wearing the same trainers he's used since his first half marathon in Lübeck all the way back in 2011, and not even bothering with a stop watch."
