The 2008 Crystal Palace Triathlon will be held on Sunday 21 September. We have had to move the date from our usual May bank holiday slot because of refurbishments to the National Sports Centre at Crystal Palace.
24 April 2008 - We have been advised by the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre that the refurbishment of the 50m pool will not be completed in time for our race on 21 September 2008. As a result, the swim will now take place in the 25m training pool at the NSC. As this pool has five lanes (0.9m deep) we have had to change the swim from 750m to 400m. We are very sorry to announce this change to the race format and hope to return to the full sprint distance in the 50m pool in 2009.
Swim = 400m - 16 lengths in 25m pool
Bike = 20km - 9 laps of closed road circuit in park
Run = 5km - 2 laps in park
The race comprises a 400m swim in the 25m training pool at the National Sports Centre, nine laps of a closed circuit within the park (closed to traffic!) and two laps of the same course for the run, before finishing in the renowned athletics stadium.
We hope to see you on 21 September. If you have any queries regarding the race, please contact us.
Race information will not be posted out but full instructions will be made available on this website nearer to race day. We will keep all entrants informed by email.

Crystal Palace Triathletes are aiming to host, what is believed to be, the first UK carbon-neutral race in 2008, in a bid to cut emissions produced as a result of the Crystal Palace Triathlon. You can read more about our plans for a carbon-neutral race and how we are hoping to achieve this in the summary prepared by Zero Carbon Events on our behalf.
One of our main initiatives is to encourage car sharing and use of public transport to and from the race. Jambusters are supporting us and have provided us with a car share database and links to various public transport and journey planner websites. If you are interested in car sharing please register on the Jambusters CPT car share website.
