Please note - To join a Club ride you should wear a helmet, carry a pump, tyre levers, two spare tubes, money, phone, drinks and energy food. You should also know how to change a tube. Please make sure you have a mobile phone, some form of ID and a note of any medical requirements, with you on all rides.
It is unlikely that you will be able to keep up if you have a mountain bike, especially one with knobbly tyres!
Remember: No helmet: No ride.

We are introducing another permanent training session to the Club's weekly calendar on Saturday mornings, largely based at Crystal Palace NSC and run by Jon H.
A schedule for the next eight weeks is available below so you can see what all the sessions are in advance, comprising turbo, running, core stability/circuits, race specific training etc and will progress your training forwards from Winter fitness through to peak race fitness.
Cost will be £5 each per session.

Sunday - Elmers End Winter Sunday morning rides Jan – Mar 2010
We will meet at 08.45 for an 09:00 departure from Elmers End for one of three routes and speeds into Kent or Surrey.
Riders will be divided into groups dependant upon who turns up. Groups and routes will be determined by the ride leaders on the day.
These are not coached rides, but volunteer led rides to show riders the chosen route and to try and keep everyone together. The leaders are not qualified cycle coaches.
There’ll be a group going at just your speed, whatever your ability. Anyone unsure of their riding ability will be allocated the improvers group for their first ride so that their speed and bike handling skills can be assessed.
So if you want a full-on training ride or just a gentle potter round the country lanes, come along. When you arrive on your first ride make yourself known to one of our ride leaders and they’ll look after you.
See maps and profiles of some of our regular routes.
Helmets must be worn for all Club cycling activities.
We would also like to issue a 'no ice riding' request to all members. So please use your judgement, be sensible and stay at home on your turbo trainer if the weather looks particularly bad.
Please also read the advice on group riding before joining a Club ride.

As winter approaches please take additional care when out on your bike. A feature of the weather in our area of London is that it is much warmer than in the neighbouring countryside where we ride. This means that 20 minutes after leaving the relative warmth of Elmers End you could feel a significant drop in temperature and road conditions. An example of this is Layhams Lane which at this time of year is known as "Little Siberia" by the locals. Not surprisingly then, it’s also been the scene of a few mishaps for CPTers over the years.
Please check weather conditions to assess the situation carefully before your rides. CPT does not promote club rides in dangerous weather conditions. In such circumstances please consider a turbo session or check the e-group to see if there is an alternative mountain bike session arranged.

The Club currently has one bike bag that is available for members to borrow.
This is a fairly robust item with an integral frame and will be made available on a first come, first served basis at a rate of £10 per week. The Club will ask for a refundable deposit equivalent to the cost of the bag (about £150) which can be made by way of a cheque. Please email for availability and booking.
