Sunday

Please complete the attached Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire and hand to the coach at the first CPT session you attend.

Please note - To join a Club ride you should wear a helmet, carry a pump, tyre levers, two spare tubes, money, phone, drinks and energy food. You should also know how to change a tube. Please also make sure you have a mobile phone, some form of ID and a note of any medical requirements, with you on all rides.

It is unlikely that you will be able to keep up if you have a mountain bike, especially one with knobbly tyres!

Coached sessions cater for all abilities and can be amended /adapted for the ability range present.

Saturday - Crystal Palace

The Saturday morning sessions will return at the end of the triathlon season in October. Details will be announced nearer the time.

New Sunday rides

SarahWe are trying to establish a slightly slower group on Sunday mornings. This will leave at 9am from Elmers End and will average 12-14mph, with the aim of being back at the cafe at Elmers End at around 11.30am. Sarah has kindly offered to lead these rides when she's available (30 March, 6 April, 13 April, 20 April, 27 April
and 11 May). The first week there was just Sarah and Angelique, but numbers have varied with seven riders one week. Hopefully this ride will build up just as the 9.30am ride did when we first introduced it. Please turn up even on the dates Sarah isn't available to lead and hopefully you'll have some company.

PhilPhil will also be leading some longer rides for those training for Ironman or who want a longer, non-stop, steady ride. These will leave at 8.15am on Sundays from Elmers End. The average speed will be 15mph with a stop in the café at Elmers End after the ride for a tea. Please make sure you are fully prepared with the following: Two full 750ml bottles of sports drink; a few sports energy bars and other nibbles to eat along the way; a roadworthy bike with non antique tyres and tubes fitted; spare inner tube; tools and a pump that works! These rides will not happen every week and will be confirmed via the Club e-group. (Phil won't be leading a ride on 13 April as he's running the Marathon but others will be out).

Advice re winter cycling

As winter approaches please take additional care when out on your bike. A feature of the weather in our area of London is that it is much warmer than in the neighbouring countryside where we ride. This means that 20 minutes after leaving the relative warmth of Elmers End you could feel a significant drop in temperature and road conditions. An example of this is Layham’s Lane which at this time of year is known as “Little Siberia” by the locals. Not surprisingly then, it’s also been
the scene of a few mishaps for CPTers over the years.

Please check weather conditions to assess the situation carefully before your rides. CPT does not promote club rides in dangerous weather conditions. In such circumstances please consider a turbo session or check the e-group to see if there is an alternative mountain bike session arranged.

GregGreg Lewis is our bike coordinator. If you have any comments, suggestions or feedback regarding our bike sessions, please let Greg know.

During winter months Nigel regularly organises weekend mountain bike sessions. Details of these are circulated on the Club e-group, so you need to become a fully paid up member to find out more!

Members also organise ad hoc rides and these are also advertised via the Club e-group.
